Students from Lowther Hall are gearing up to take part in Mt Gambier’s annual jazz competition festival – ‘Generations in Jazz’.
The popular South Australian festival provides young musicians the opportunity to perform amongst their peers and in front of large audiences, whilst competing for the coveted James Morrison Scholarship. Over 3,600 students from all states and territories are expected to participate.
Director of Music at Lowther Hall, Darren Emerson, is pleased that the students will have the opportunity to perform in such a high level concert and competition environment. “The Generations in Jazz Festival at Mt Gambier enables our students the chance to perform, listen and workshop with professional jazz musicians from Australia and overseas. Students have practised for many hours to perfect their repertoire and are very excited to perform,” he said.
The festival will take place May 9th to 11th .
