Our congratulations to Year 5 student Aimee who has recently been named the Under 12 National Poomsae Champion – Black Belt 1st Dan for 2016! Poomsae is a non-contact form of taekwondo and is the performance of set patterns of the defence and attack moves which form the foundation of Taekwondo teaching. It is a sport that teaches not only self-defence but respect, perseverance and discipline.
At the National competition held last Sunday, Aimee was scored on both her accuracy and presentation of Poomsae patterns and won Gold in her Individual event, as well as Gold in the Pairs event and a Silver medal in the Team event.
Aimee worked incredibly hard to overcome an ankle injury at the beginning of the year which saw her unable to train for a number of months, so we are extremely proud of the determination, resilience, and grace that she has displayed to achieve this fantastic result!
Congratulations, Aimee!
